The HPB Fellowship Standard - Accreditation and Certificate of Training Processes

 

 Accreditation Process:

HPB Fellowship programs are accredited through the Fellowship Council .

Application and Accreditation of new and existing HPB programs is a rigorous peer review process which includes an application for membership to the Fellowship Council, followed by an initial site visit and extensive and ongoing full program review. Programs may be accredited for up to 3 years, and will then be fully re-­evaluated.

Accredited programs are required to maintain the minimum program requirements and standards as defined by the AHPBA and approved by the Fellowship Council.For more information regarding the Accreditation processes and HPB fellowship requirements please see the Fellowship council link below:

Certification of Training Process:

Upon successful completion of a Fellowship Council Accredited HPB program, the HPB Program Director may apply for a certificate of training for their fellow.

This application will be reviewed by members of the Education and Training Committee, and consensus recommendation will be reached by the full Education and Training Committee. Final recommendations will be forwarded to the Executive Council of the AHPBA for approval prior to award of the certificate.

The review process will verify successful completion of the defined minimum clinical training requirements established by the AHPBA and the Fellowship Council. 

FC Accreditation Guidelines and Definitions

Submission of the materials below by the fellow's HPB Fellowship Program Director must be received by September 15th the year following completion of training to be considered for an AHPBA Certificate of training in HPB Surgery.
